What is a Glow Zone anyway?
You know that feeling when everything just clicks? When you're fully lit up, in your element, can't wipe the smile off your face?
That's your glow zone, friend.
Maybe you've felt it on vacation. Or out with your besties. Or in a relationship that made you glow from the inside out 👀
I believe we can find that glow in our careers too. It just takes tweaking some things to get there.
This month, we're sharing stories of people who found their glow zone at work. First up is Ushi. She's going to show us how she created a career that lights her up inside.
And I want to hear YOUR stories too! Have you felt the glow at work? What does being in your zone look like? Reply and let's share your wisdom with the community.
The goal here is to inspire each other to find that sweet spot where our talents, values and dreams collide into magic. Our potential is waiting to be unlocked, sistas!
Let's elevate each other and make some career magic happen.
Are you with me? Let's do this!

What was the turning point where you decided to take control of your career path and actively create your dream role?
I've always been in and out of entrepreneurship, which started at 24 when I created an online ticketing platform for Asian events in the U.K. At that point I was working myself to the bone, working with advertisers, clients, customers and running events too. I loved it but working until 2am each day was not good for me. I think sometimes we forget that we work for ourselves to actually have a life we love too ... also I got tired of the events I needed something different in my life... so I sold my shares and went back to corporate life, thinking I needed the safety of a 9-5 job.
It wasn't until I was 36 (after working on my health & my mental fitness) that I started taking control of my career path. I knew I loved helping women, I knew I loved coaching, at that time I was a level 3 personal trainer so started coaching women online with their fitness. Most of the time, it wasn't even about fitness but self worth and feeling like they had no purpose; so I navigated my career, took some further qualifications and became a Soul Purpose and Holistic Life Coach. I decided to combine Fitness with Mindset and Soul Purpose work and things started to flourish. I left my corporate job in eCommerce and now work with women in both a corporate and small businesses to help them flourish, find purpose and raise their frequency through movement and mindset coaching. I also now have an award winning podcast called Brown Girl Rising, run sound baths and have done 2 Retreat Experiences in Asia this year!
How did you overcome setbacks and challenges on the path towards creating your vision? What kept you persevering?
There will always be a challenge, as things change day to day, one moment business is flourishing the next tumbleweed... but when you love what you do you find a way. When there's passion, you'll light up your creative senses. The biggest thing for me is faith that I was on the right path, having faith that I will be ok, that this is the direction I'm meant to take.
Having that faith keeps me going and keeps me focussed. Before you know it, boom out of the blue a new client signs up, a new programme gets bought and then the flow starts coming in. A lot of the time we get to a challenge or a rough patch and it's so easy to give up... so keep going. And don't forget it's also ok to pivot like I did when I realised it wasn't just about fitness coaching.
What does being in your glow zone 'career-wise' feel like? How does it compare to previous roles?
Wow, being in my Glow Zone to me feels like Freedom. I have the freedom to work from anywhere in the world, coaching women that are aligned, changing lives and it feels like I'm giving back to the planet at the same time. Travel is a big thing for me and I've coached from Fuerteventura, Thailand and Bali... which in my corporate role I'd never be able to do. I get to wake up, do my morning routine, and fill up my cup first. Sure, sometimes I work a long day or week and don't finish till late, but most of the time I don't start work until 11am. Before 11am it's me time, gym, coffee, book, walk etc.
When I feel this Glow, I give more and people can feel it in my energy.
At work the 9-5:30 thing had me stifled, I felt controlled and sometimes trapped... it was their way or no way. Now I get to be creative, I get to choose and I get to thrive in a way that suits me and I get to help women step into their power too!
I think you'll agree that Ushi is both inspiring and incredible in equal measure.
